About the Conference
I presented my research poster, "Who Belongs in the Spanish Classroom? Racialized Participation and Investment in L2 Learning," co-authored with Candela Sevilla, at the Second Language Research Forum (SLRF). My research examined racialized patterns in participation, academic performance, attendance, and retention among African American students in university-level Spanish courses. Using student course data, I explored factors associated with achievement gaps and discussed pedagogical recommendations to support student engagement and improve retention in foreign language education.
