Presented at Arconexiones 2026, this presentation examined themes of guilt, redemption, and determinism in Juan Rulfo’s El llano en llamas. Through close literary analysis, the project explored how Rulfo’s characters navigate violence, fatalism, and moral conflict within post-revolutionary rural Mexico, highlighting the relationship between individual agency and social circumstance in Mexican literature.
